Oneman pays tribute to London roots with XOYO residency

Ben UFO, Crazy Cousinz, Todd Edwards, Just Blaze and Digital Mystikz are among the artists lined up for the three-month series in London.

Rinse FM veteran Oneman will take the reins for the next XOYO residency this summer, with a celebration of several genres of dance music that pay tribute to the his London roots.

Following in the footsteps of DJs such as Tiga, Eats Everything and Jackmaster, the DJ will host and programme every Friday night for 13 weeks at the Shoreditch venue, with a host of special guests from the UK club scene and beyond.

As well as headline slots for Ben UFO, Kode9, Lunice and Gilles Peterson, highlights include a celebration of UK funky with Geeneus, Roska and Crazy Cousinz, a garage night with Todd Edwards and Zed Bias and a dubstep party with Digital Mystikz, Plastician and Horsepower Productions.

“As a pure DJ this summer’s residency has been something I’ve been working towards for many years now,” Oneman says.

“It gives me the chance to showcase some of my favourite artists and DJs that have influenced me throughout the years and to celebrate my hometown, London, the city that birthed UK garage, grime, funky, dubstep and more.

“I’ve been playing / raving at XOYO for a few years now and absolutely love the club and the staff, a family affair, so couldn’t think of a better place to do this.”

Other highlights across the three-month run include Just Blaze, a carnival garage set from Skream and Artwork, Wiley & Slimzee, Night Slugs co-founder Bok Bok and a DJ set from Mount Kimbie.

The residency starts on July 1 and concludes on September 23. Saturday nights in August will host a separate XOYO residency from DJ Harvey.
