Kanye gets mobbed.
Kanye West attempted to stage a last-minute performance at New York’s Webster Hall last night (June 5) following the cancellation of the Governors Ball, but severe over-crowding outside the East Village venue forced security to shut down the gig.
Within an hour the pop-up show being announced on Twitter, thousands of people had flooded the streets surrounding Webster Hall, which led to the entire block being barricaded by police.
West then turned up in a car with wife Kim Kardashian and Travis Scott, greeting fans from the sunroof, but it was announced by security shortly after 2am that the show had been cancelled.
Kim Kardashian – who had been live-streaming from her Snapchat account – confirmed that there would be no show, despite Kanye’s best efforts to find a place. Kardashian also explained that Kanye tried to call NYC Mayor de Blasio to convince him to shut down multiple blocks around the venue “so [fans] can have a party outside.”
