Planned “hip-hop action-comedy” has nothing to do with Killer Mike and El-P.

Run The Jewels have hit out at news that Kevin Hart is on board to produce a new film titled Run The Jewels.

The movie, which bears no relation to El-P and Killer Mike’s acclaimed rap duo of the same name, centres on a group of failed rappers who attempt to rob a hip-hop mogul. Ride Along star Hart will produce the movie via his own Hartbeat Productions, according to The Hollywood Reporter. No release date has as yet been confirmed.

Run The Jewels’ producer-rapper El-P tweeted his disapproval about the film earlier this morning (June 22). When one fan points out he’d long ago floated the idea of an RTJ movie, he replied sharply: “yes I meant for us”.

Run The Jewels’ RTJ3 is expected to be released later this year, after Killer Mike promised a “darker, nastier” album that the pair hope to finish in early July.

Watch Kevin Hart take on Kendrick Lamar in a hilarious rap battle.
