O’Connor explains that threat was “false and malicious gossip.”

Sinéad O’Connor has posted a Facebook statement in response to yesterday’s reports that she had threatened to commit suicide.

“It’s bullshit I jumped off a bridge, some stupid bitch up at Swords Garda station decided she’d like to throw a bit of false and malicious gossip about is all,” she wrote earlier today (June 24), before adding “I am far too fucking happy for that!”

O’Connor had reportedly called her family in Ireland to say she was on a bridge and planning to jump, prompting a police search in Chicago.

Last year, the ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ singer posted a distraught message on Facebook after allegedly taking a drug overdose. She was later found “safe and sound,” with a representative for O’Connor confirming she was “unwell and receiving treatment.”
