Martin Jenkins returns for another album ‘70s and ‘80s inspired melancholia.

Prolific UK synth explorer Pye Corner Audio will release his next album on Ghost Box in August.

Otherwise known as Martin Jenkins, Pye Corner Audio has been taking inspiration from classic synth soundtracks and library music since 2010. Stasis is the producer’s second for UK hauntology outpost Ghost Box after 2012’s Sleep Games, which took inspiration from John Carpenter and Italo horror soundtracks.

Ghost Box hasn’t revealed much about the 14-track album apart from the artwork, accompanied by quotes from sci-fi authors Arthur C. Clarke and Ursula K. Le Guin taken from 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Lathe of Heaven.

Pye Corner Audio’s VHS-smeared ‘70s and ‘80s soundtrack-inspired music regularly combines melancholy with malevolence, but he also keeps one eye on the dance floor. Last year he released a tape of analog dance cuts as The Head Technician that used the Roland TR-606, MC-202 and TB-303 to make music inspired by Detroit techno and UK bleep.

His last project saw him team up with Blackest Ever Black’s Dalhous on a split release for called Run For The Shadows, which put an emphasis on the prettiest and most melancholic sounds of both acts.

Stasis is released on August 26. Listen to previews below and pre-order at the Ghost Box store from July 22.
