The movie is billed as “a chilling fable.”

After piquing our interest back in 2014, Scott Walker’s film score for Bradley Corbet’s The Childhood Of A Leader – a psychological drama starring Robert Pattison –  has finally got a release date.

Walker worked with long-term collaborator Peter Walsh and Mark Warman on the lush, orchestral soundtrack, with the latter conducting an orchestra of 46 string players and 16 brass musicians. The OST is out both digitally and on LP/CD via 4AD on August 19, which is the same date the film is released. There will also be a limited run of transparent vinyl available and you can hear a clip of the OST below.

Partly inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre’s short story of the same name, The Childhood Of A Leader is billed as “a chilling fable about the rise of fascism in the 20th Century” and traces the formative years of a young boy, set against the backdrop of the 1919 Paris Peace Conference that led to the establishment of the Treaty of Versailles.

This is the first film soundtrack Walker has released following his score for French romantic drama Pola X in 1999, which also features contributions from Sonic Youth and Bill Callahan.
