Space, the 37th chamber.

In honour of NASA’s Juno Mission, an unmanned probe due to reach the orbit of Jupiter on July 4, the American space agency and Apple have asked musicians to record new songs.

Which leads us to the unexpected collaboration between Wu Tang member GZA and The Happy Mondays bass player and founding member Paul Ryder, who produced ‘The Spark’.

‘The Spark’ is the latest in the NASA series which also includes songs from Weezer, Trent Reznor, and Atticus Ross. All the songs are available now via iTunes/Apple Music.

This isn’t the first time GZA has dealt with space. Two years ago he rapped about the Big Bang Theory to Toronto university students and also sat down with Neil deGrasse Tyson to talk hip-hop and science.

And then there is the Dark Matter album, announced four years ago, and inspired by quantum physics, which popped up again last year when the rapper was snapped in the studio with Vangelis.
