From Prince to Pete Shelley.

Need an education in the funkiest records ever? François K has shared a list of his 137 favourite “danceable and funky” records on Facebook. Considering the veteran DJ played regularly at the Paradise Garage and Studio 54 during the ‘80s and ran the Body & SOUL parties alongside Danny Krivit and Joe Claussell, his knowledge on the subject should be fairly authoritative.

Featuring music from Prince, Jermaine Jackson, James Brown and Stevie Wonder alongside tracks by Bill Withers, Aretha Franklin and Gwen Guthrie, the list combines iconic classics together with less obvious choices. Of course we don’t all have access to the records in François K’s collection, but thanks to our friends at The Vinyl Factory, there’s a handy YouTube playlist that collects them all.
