The music world continues to get to grips with the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

Solange and Swizz Beatz have posted new music in the wake of the police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, the 558th and 559th individuals killed by the US police force this year.

“Been singing Syreeta’s ‘Black Maybe’ over and over again trying to comfort my weary heart… But what is comfort when the images of slain black bodies left to bleed are sketched into your being… over and over again,” wrote Solange in a note accompanying a brief a capella cover of the 1972 track.

Swizz Beatz meanwhile dropped a new track in collaboration with rapper Scarface that rallies against Donald Trump and the KKK. “Little boy got shot down today, I hope his family is okay,” begins ‘Sad News’. Hear it below.

Chance The Rapper has meanwhile expressed his outrage over the killings, as protests continued throughout America last night. “These guys murdered this man with his 4-year-old daughter in the backseat?” he asked on Twitter, referring to Philando Castile, whose death at the hands of police in a traffic stop was filmed and shared online to mass outcry. Read his tweets below as he calls for convictions and tells a police officer follower, who says they’re “torn” about how to feel, to “do/say something”.

Protests over the shootings escalated in Dallas last night, where five policemen were shot dead and at least six others wounded. The gunman has reportedly turned himself in.
