“I was snoozing in the back of the car to wake up being launched into the air.”

Dave Clarke has been involved in a serious car accident in Serbia. The techno DJ was on his way back from performing at Exit Festival last weekend (July 7), when his car hit a lamp post and landed on the other side of a dual carriageway.

“I was snoozing in the back of the car and woke up being launched into the air,” Clarke wrote on Facebook this morning, describing how both driver and passenger made it out unharmed, although the car was a write-off.

Clarke had to flag down a passer-by to hitch a ride to Belgrade airport so he didn’t miss his flight to Amsterdam, where he was eventually checked out by doctors.

He later wrote: “So far so good. But I am in a lot of pain in my neck, back, chest and arms. I dread the next few days/weeks. Really angry too, livid, perhaps that is good, weeks ahead of back specialists but I am alive.”

Update, July 12: Clarke has updated his Facebook page with the news that his health is still being monitored.

He was at least well enough to point out FACT’s error in describing him as the “self-styled Baron of Techno” – the nickname was in fact given to him by John Peel. The fact he could be bothered to point this out bodes well for his health, we think. Get well soon, Dave!
