The stage show is inspired by Bowie’s 1976 film The Man Who Fell To Earth.

David Bowie’s Lazarus musical is coming to the UK in October.

The show, which opened in New York late last year, is inspired by Nicolas Roeg’s David Bowie-starring cult classic from 1976, The Man Who Fell To Earth, and was co-written by Bowie with Irish playwright Enda Walsh.

Lazarus, which is also the name of the second single released on Bowie’s final album Blackstar, was directed by Belgian director Ivo van Hove. The UK version will see Dexter and Six Feet Under actor Michael C Hall reprise his role as Thomas Newton while Michael Esper will continue to play Valentine and Sophia Anne Caruso is Girl.

When Lazarus opened in New York last December, the Guardian described the “jukebox musical” as “unapologetically weird… and oddly intriguing”, while Rolling Stone applauded its “wild, fantastical, eye-popping turns.” The New York show featured a synth-pop version of classic Bowie track ‘The Man Who Sold the World’.

The Man Who Fell To Earth – which follows Bowie’s character, an alcoholic alien called Thomas Jerome Newton and his mission to bring Earth water back to his home planet – will this year also return to theaters in digital 4k.

Lazarus will run at London’s King’s Cross Theatre from October 25 to January 21 2017. Tickets are already on sale.
