Compiler plays the video game classic as you’ve never seen it before.

Some dreams are simple, others are more ambitious. For Brighton-based Jonny Baker aka Compiler, the dream was to cover the theme from classic Sega video game Golden Axe using a drum kit.

By putting MIDI triggers onto an acoustic drum kit connected to an application called Retrigger, Baker is able to play the theme from the fantasy beat ’em up classic using nothing more than a pedal and a set of drumsticks. His setup is also creates an impressive light show.

The finished track is available from Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis from Tipp City Records, with all proceeds going towards a charity for sick children called Rockinghorse. Tipp City will be releasing a track every month with proceeds going to a charity of the artist’s choice.
