Future’s Past covers 30 years of Berlin history.

Berghain bouncer Sven Marquardt will be exhibiting his photography in Ibiza for the first time later this month.

Future’s Past takes place from August 15-24 in Ibiza’s Hangar 8289 space on Carrer de Cas Dominguets. Most recently exhibited in Australia, it covers 30 years of the imposing Berlin club doorman’s black and white photography.

Marquardt’s portraits cover the period before Berlin’s reunification and the rise of the city’s techno scene afterwards. Italian artist Aequal – who reworks millennial sacred music with synthesizers and drum machines – soundtracks the exhibition.

As well as being a doorman at the world’s most famous techno club and a photographer Marquardt is a writer and fashion designer. In 2014 he published his memoir Die Nacht ist Leben and designed a T-shirt line for Hugo Boss.

If you’re planning on visiting Berghain soon and want to practice getting in, a website called Berghain Trainer simulates the bouncer experience using face recognition technology. [via RA]
