Alt-J drummer Thom Sonny Green steps up for an Against The Clock. 

For most musicians, life in a Mercury Prize-winning arena band would be quite enough thank you very much. Not for Thom Sonny Green though, who’s taken a between-albums break from drumming in British indie crew Alt-J to piece together a Boards of Canada- and Clams Casino-worshipping ambient album full of surprising darkness.

A regular FACT reader (you might have spotted his entry in our recent competition to create a beat for grime queen Lady Leshurr to freestyle over), Green took on our Against The Clock challenge with aplomb recently, inviting us into the studio for an intimate, somewhat sped-up glimpse at how he composes.
