From video to art installation.

Friday saw the private opening of an exhibition at Los Angeles’ Blum & Poe featuring the wax figures from Kanye West’s ‘Famous’ video. All 12 of the cast are on display in the gallery, as well as the oversized bed. The opening was attended by Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner while Kanye made an appearance via video link.

The video for The Life of Pablo song was first unveiled in late June via Tidal before being made available to the public via YouTube. Its naked centerpiece was inspired by Vincent Desiderio’s 2008 painting Sleep.

Following its release, the video caused no small amount of controversy. It includes recreations of Donald Trump, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, George W. Bush and Bill Cosby among others. Lena Dunham said the video invoked date rape while Desiderio called it “a feat of magic.”

Most recently, German director Werner Herzog marveled at Kanye’s work in an analysis of the piece. The director even invited Kanye to join his film school.
