The ‘Hotline Bling’ hit-maker says he needs time to recuperate.

Drake has postponed three upcoming shows on his Summer Sixteen Tour due to his recent ankle injury.

“I hate to be told I can’t do something,” the Toronto artist wrote on his blog last night (October 5), “but under doctors’ orders to allow me time to recuperate, I am forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only shown me unconditional support.”

Shows in Toronto, Philadelphia, and Newark have been pushed back, and although Drake has not yet clarified any specific dates, he “promises” fans that the gigs will definitely take place at a later date: “I can’t wait to see you all again with new music and a stronger ankle.”

Live Nation told CBC News that ticketholders will receive an email with information on next steps and refunds.

Drake’s Summer Sixteen Tour, which he is co-headlining with Future, was due to finish up with its 60th show on October 16 in Newark.

Last month, Drake’s Views album became the first to hit one billion streams on Apple Music.
