The Chicago rapper weighs in on the recent controversy.

Lil Wayne has received a major backlash for a recent interview where he called Black Lives Matter movement as “dumb-ass shit,” with Vic Mensa being the latest to weigh in.

The response came from a Reddit AMA by Mensa where one user asked what he thought of “prominent, black celebrities that are anti-Black Lives Matter and feel as though it’s not their problem” before clarifying that they thought of the question after hearing Wayne’s comments.

“I think it’s a very ignorant, selfish & isolated position to take,” he said about the video which contained lines like “I don’t feel connected to a damn thing that ain’t got nothin’ to do with me”. Mensa continued, “Because even someone as big as Wayne is just a black man minus all of his ice and fame, and can be treated the same way.”

Wayne apologized shortly after the strong response to the interview explaining, “when the reporter began asking me questions about my daughter being labeled a bitch and a hoe, I got agitated.” He said after that, “no thought put into her questions and my responses”.
