Wiley has dropped two singles from his much-delayed album Godfather, now due in January 2017.

The grime original reminds us why he’s still the realest MC in the game on ‘U Were Always Part 2’, which features Skepta and North London MC Belly. “I still can’t work out why you would cause a big scene in Nando’s,” he laments over the soulful slow jam. “I know you heard I was spending bare time in the boozer.”

‘U Were Always Part 2’ samples R&B girl group SWV’s 1996 track ‘Fine Time’, which was also the source of vintage Roll Deep tune ‘U Were Always’ featuring Wiley, Dizzee Rascal and Tinchy Stryder. That tune can be found on 2009’s Street Anthems album.

UPDATE: Track has been removed

Wiley also dropped a black and white video for ‘Holy Grime’ featuring Devlin, buoying hopes that Godfather is back on track after the mercurial MC cancelled the album in July, dismissing it as “pointless”.

The album is now expected to come out on January 13, 2017, with guests including JME, Newham Generals, Chip, Lethal Bizzle, and P Money.
