Details of a “medical emergency” are still emerging, with some media outlets reporting that he was taken in handcuffs to UCLA.

Kanye West has been hospitalized hours after cancelling the rest of his Saint Pablo tour, according to reports.

An official statement has yet to be made, leaving confusion and conflicting reports over the nature of his hospitalization. According to The New York Times, the rapper is being treated for exhaustion after Los Angeles police responded to a call made by his doctor in West Hollywood at 1.20pm, which then grew into a “medical emergency.” He was then taken to UCLA “for his own health and safety” according to NBC News.

TMZ however is claiming he was handcuffed and taken for “psychiatric examination” by medical staff after being found “acting irrationally” at his trainer Harley Pasternak’s home.

The incident comes after a controversial week for West, in which pro-Trump comments he made at a show in Sacramento received wide backlash from the hip-hop community. He left the stage after three songs at his next show in San Jose, after taking shots at Hilary Clinton, Jay Z and Beyonce, before cancelling his show in LA over the weekend. Yesterday it was confirmed the remainder of his tour dates had been cancelled, as anger continued to rise over his political remarks.

FACT has reached out for comment from West’s representatives.
