The Chicago artist spoofed Run-DMC’s ‘Christmas in Hollis’ track on the show.

Chance the Rapper
returned to Saturday Night Live last night (December 17) for his second appearance as the show’s musical guest, paying tribute to Obama while also performing two Coloring Book tracks.

Having already kicked off the Christmas celebrations earlier month with a spot of carol singing at the annual White House tree lighting ceremony, last night Chance marked Barack Obama’s final Christmas in office with a parody of Run-DMC’s ‘Christmas in Hollis’.

Performing alongside regular cast members Keenan Thompson and Leslie Jones, Chance turned in a musical skit that detailed the best things about Obama being the president during the holidays, with a cameo from DMC towards the end. The skit took aim at at Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’, with DMC dropping the line “Never trust a white dude wearin’ no red hat,” before a white dude came out dressed as santa wearing a red hat.

‘Jingle Barack’ also came with a serious message: “Hey kids enjoy the presents while you can, because next year you might get a bomb from Iran,” rapped Thompson, with Chance later adding: “I’m a hurt myself before we lose Obamacare.”

For his musical performances, the Chicago rapper had asked fans to help choose the songs prior to his appearance. They decided upon two tracks from Chance’s acclaimed Coloring Book album: ‘Finish Line’, performed with fellow Chicago artist Noname, and the piano-led ‘Same Drugs’. See footage below.
