“You have led with such poise, grace and elegance.”

President Obama delivered an uplifting and emotionally charged farewell address in Chicago last night, in which he called on Americans to defend their democracy, while breaking down in tears over his love of wife Michelle.

BJ the Chicago Kid was invited to rep the city and the country with a startling rendition of the national anthem, while Eddie Vedder also performed at the address, joined by the Chicago Children’s Choir. Watch clips of those performances – and Obama’s full speech – below.

With Obama counting an impressive number of fans in the music community, many artists have already taken online to pay their respects and say their goodbyes. See a selection of their responses below, which we will update throughout the day.
