The broadcaster has issued a statement explaining it “never intended to cause any offence.”

Sky has cancelled the forthcoming broadcast of an Urban Myths episode after Michael Jackson’s children complained about the show. Jackson’s daughter Paris said earlier this week that the portrayal of her father by actor Joseph Fiennes “honestly makes me want to vomit.”

The episode, which had been due to air in April, focuses on Michael Jackson’s long-rumored attempt to flee New York with Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando following the September 11 attacks.

Sky said in a statement today that it has taken the decision not to broadcast the episode, “in light of the concerns expressed by Michael Jackson’s immediate family.

“We set out to take a light-hearted look at reportedly true events and never intended to cause any offence. Joseph Fiennes fully supports our decision.”

Jackson’s nephew Taj also tweeted his disapproval after watching the trailer: “Unfortunately this is what my family has to deal with. No words could express the blatant disrespect.”
