“All real fans and everybody in the family knows it.”

In her first in-depth interview, Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris, claims her father was murdered.

“All arrows point to that. It sounds like a total conspiracy theory and it sounds like bullshit, but all real fans and everybody in the family knows it. It was a setup. It was bullshit,” she tells Rolling Stone.

She does not name who she thinks would have wanted Jackson dead, but she believes there were “a lot of people”. She is just as oblique about how she plans to seek justice for her father’s death.

“[It’s] a chess game. And I am trying to play the chess game the right way. And that’s all I can say about that right now,” she says.

Jackson’s cause of death was substance intoxication and was originally treated as a homicide due to the number of drugs in his system. Jackson’s personal physician Conrad Murray was later charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Paris discusses her own struggles with substances, as well as depression, after her father’s death. She also shares memories of their relationship, including speaking at his funeral which she calls “the first time I ever publicly defended him”.

Earlier this year Lifetime announced a biopic about Jackson’s final years.
