Ocean’s father reportedly takes legal action over Tumblr post accusation of homophobia.

Frank Ocean’s father Calvin Cooksey is reportedly suing his son for $14.5m in response to a Tumblr post written by the singer in the wake of the Orlando Pulse nightclub massacre that left 49 LGBT people dead.

In the note, Ocean accused his dad of using a homophobic slur when he was a child. “I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a faggot as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty,” the Blonde singer wrote. “That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.”

As TMZ reports, Cooksey claims that the statement is untrue and that it has damaged his financial opportunities in film and music. He is looking for $14.5 million in damages.

In 2014, Cooksey sued Russell Simmons for defamation, aiming for nearly ten times the aforementioned amount in damages.

FACT has reached out to Ocean’s representatives for comment.

Ocean has long used his Tumblr to communicate with fans about issues close to him. He recently hit out at Donald Trump in a post following the President’s inauguration, labelling the reality star-turned-leader of the free world’s inauguration event “dry” and saying: “The majority sees Donald for who he is too. He ain’t slick.”
