The club is reopening tonight.
Clubgoers at Manchester’s Factory brought a new meaning to “raise the roof” in the early hours of this morning (February 13) when they were forced to hold up part of the ceiling after it fell on them.
“We were all dancing and we just suddenly had this wooden ceiling panel fall on our heads,” Tom Foster told Manchester Evening News. “As soon as the ceiling went all the lights smashed and fell on everyone, there was crying and screaming, we were just standing there holding it up, with half the room in darkness.”
Others shared images of the collapse on Twitter. Despite the shock and a precautionary evacuation, no serious injuries were reported.

Factory later released a statement to the paper saying the collapse wasn’t a structural issue and that the section of plasterboard has come loose before.
“A section of plasterboard came loose from the first floor. The same section that came loose on this exact weekend two years ago,” they said. “At this stage we are uncertain how or why – no one was hurt and the club was evacuated purely as a precaution – there is no structural issue.”
Factory has announced on Twitter that they will be open again starting tonight, while cheekily suggesting a new dance move. [via NME]
