Chance The Rapper has harshly criticized Donald Trump for his warning that he would “send the Feds” to Chicago if the city “doesn’t fix the horrible ‘carnage’ going on”.

“I’m tired of n—–s talkin’ about Chicago like it’s a Third World country. Like, that it’s not a place of booming business with a very successful downtown and all types of new development,” he said in an joint-interview with Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler for ESPN’s The Undeafeated. “It sounds like he was announcin’ he was going to war with Chicago.”

Trump tweeted the warning in reference to Chicago murder rates, but was vague about what “the Feds” would do (or even could do if you read the 10th Amendment). Chance remained optimistic in his speculation.

“I hope he’s coming in to do some type of federal overturn of our state and city budgets in terms of schooling and housing,” he said. He elaborated in a video segment accompanying the interview.

“I can only expect that he means he’s gonna, from a federal level, help out with, you know, the teachers’ strike and the union issues. I don’t like to think that he, you know, said what he meant or meant what he said,” he said. [via Pitchfork]
