Buchla on a budget.

Users of Native Instruments’ Reaktor 6 software can now get an ensemble based on Don Buchla’s 200 Series synthesizers from the ‘70s.

Created by Reaktor enthusiast Trevor Gavilan, the Cloudlab 200t isn’t a straight emulation of a Buchla in software, but a plug-in that’s inspired by workflow of the legendary instruments, used by synth pioneers Morton Subotnick and Suzanne Ciani.

Cloudlab 200t makes use of Reaktor 6’s Blocks feature, which allows you to create your own Eurorack-style modular synth environment in software. Gavilan has uploaded a video of what the instrument can do – watch that below.

Cloudlab 200t is free to download from the NI website, but you’ll need a copy of Reaktor 6 to use it. It costs $199/£169.
