Warp’s Italian trance master Lorenzo Senni is back.

Back in 1959, jazz futurist Ornette Coleman released The Shape Of Jazz To Come, reframing the genre for the next generation of listeners, critics and performers. Since then, Refused have released The Shape Of Punk To Come and Norwegian noise supremo Lasse Marhaug released The Shape Of Rock To Come back in 2004.

Now, Italian trance mastermind Lorenzo Senni sets out his blueprint for one of dance music’s most maligned genres with The Shape Of Trance To Come, a new 12″ on Warp.

According to the label, the two extended pieces “serve as a musical mechanism into rave music’s darker sides, a never-reaching euphoria through non-conventional musical elucidation.” OK then, we’re in.

You can hear the title track now via YouTube; the full release is due on September 29.

Senni also has a brand new interactive website and is touring throughout fall.
