Download a free MacBook Pro Touch Bar preset for Ableton Live
A whole set of Live shortcuts accessible from the Touch Bar.
Music software companies have been slow to develop apps for the MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar app, but independent developers have been plugging the gap with their own creations. The latest is useful Ableton-centric site pATCHES, which has released a free Touch Bar preset for Live users.
The preset adds plenty of shortcuts for Ableton Live, including a save button that saves a whole new version each time you hit it, a shortcut for adding new audio, MIDI and return tracks, mute track buttons, time controls, a loop brace and a window sub-menu to initiate fullscreen, show info view, hide the browser and more.
“After owning a new MacBook for some time now, I can report back to say the Touch Bar is no gimmick at all – everyday applications like Photoshop, Quicktime, and Premiere get a productivity boost with app-specific toolsets right at the top of your keyboard,” the site says.
“Ableton Live has not yet received any official support for the Touch Bar, so we at pATCHES put together this collection of icons, shortcuts, and macros to take advantage of the adaptable portion of your keyboard.”
To get started, you need the BetterTouchTool application and pATCHES’ preset, which can be found at the pATCHES website along will full information on the features. The preset is free, but once BetterTouchTool’s 45-day free trial expires you’ll need to purchase a license that costs $8.99/£6.50.
