MUTEK.MX has issued a statement on the earthquake last week that hit Mexico.

Last Tuesday, September 19, a 7.1 earthquake hit central Mexico, collapsing buildings and wounding and killing hundreds of people. The country is reeling from the damage, which affected the Mexico’s capital, Mexico City and other nearby regions.

As MUTEK’s Mexican event, MUTEK.MX, is set to take place in just a couple of weeks – October 11-15 – the festival has issued a statement about the earthquake.

Currently, ticket sales have been suspended while the organizers check “every single detail and venue” to make sure that all activities can be carried out properly, “while guaranteeing safety of all attendants.”

MUTEK.MX also implores people living outside of Mexico who want to help, to donate to Mexico’s Red Cross, earthquake rescue specialists Topos and social initiative Omaze.

You can read the full statement on the MUTEK.MX site now.
