Dub me tender, dub me sweet.

As many FACT readers will no doubt know – Mark Ernestus is one of techno’s all time legends. As one half of Basic Channel and its many mutations (Rhythm & Sound, Maurizio etc) he helped forge an entire subgenre and now he’s sprinkled some Berlin magic over Jamaican dancehall vanguards Equiknoxx.

Set for release this week on Demdike Stare’s DDS imprint, this extended 12″ finds Ernestus tinkering with two Equiknoxx heaters: ‘Congo Get Slap Like A Congo Get Slap’ and ‘Someone Flagged It Up!’ from last year’s acclaimed Bird Sound Power LP.

The first mix is relatively straightforward – a precise, bass-heavy slow-burner that builds like Monolake. The second mix is where things get really exciting, as Ernestus drowns the track in a familiar wash of reverb, conjuring up the most Basic Channel-like mood we’ve heard since Berlin’s glory days.

Equiknoxx’s Mark Ernestus Remixes will be released on October 13 via DDS.

Tracklist:

01. ‘Congo Get Slap’ (Mark Ernestus Remix)
02. ‘Flagged Up’ (Mark Ernestus Remix)
