2011’s most essential beatmaker has made another track available to download for free via Twitter.

Clams has recently taken to drip-feeding fans with instrumental versions of his recent remixes. His re-rub of XV’s ‘Swervin'” dropped earlier this month, and now his take on ‘Moon & Stars’ is available, sans Big K.R.I.T.

Die-hard fans of the Instrumentals and Rainforest tapes, look away now: there’s precious little here that’s recognisably Clams at all. The shuffling beat suggests that our kid might be going through a Madchester phase – it’s not quite Clams-goes-baggy, but it’s not far off. In place of the thick, scuzzy textures you might associate with his beats, you get bright synth presets and the tinny parp of synthetic horns. Clams still knows intuitively how to maximise the uncanny factor in his productions – the use of pauses here is still pretty striking – but ‘Moon & Stars’ shows Clams sounding unusually earthbound.
