FACT mix: Tony Lionni

It might be Notting Hill Carnival Weekend in the UK – hence this mix going up in US time – but there are few cities that party like Liverpool.

One of the city’s most celebrated sons in recent years – though he moved to Manchester while young, and now lives in Germany – is Tony Lionni. Now, there’s several reasons you might know Tony Lionni. It might be for the fact that he’s one of contemporary house and techno’s best DJs, with an effortless swing and swagger to his sets that comes across more US than it does UK. It might be for the sheer amount of music that he’s released in the past four years: Lionni might be in his late thirties, but he’s made up for lost time, releasing close to 20 singles and EPs since his first release in 2008, as well as an album in 2010’s As One. But it’s likely that you know Tony Lionni for ‘Found a Place’, his anthemic Ostgut-Ton single that hasn’t lost an ounce of its shine since its release in 2009.

With Lionni playing Streets Of Beige at Hidden this coming month (Friday, September 14 – the Found Series launch with Italojohnson also on the bill), we thought it was about time to ask him for a FACT mix. Here are the results: a bumping, swinging session that comes across… wait, we already used that line. Just listen to it. It’s great.
