Matt Edwards – the venturesome soul behind Quiet Village, Radio Slave and the Rekids label – has unveiled an ancient mix, submitted to Muzik Magazine’s bedroom DJ competition in the late 1990s.

Edwards’ ‘Chill Out Mix’ dates back to 1998, and, as the title suggests, it’s a sedate affair. Some of Quiet Vilage’s eclecticism is on full display – Fingers Inc, Eazy-E, Air, Liza Minelli and The Clash all feature – but the mood remains mellow throughout.

The producer has also been good enough to post up a scan of the article accompanying the mix, which features a (very young looking) Edwards talking about his influences. An enthusiastic write-up from the mag observes that “despite clubs flourishing, a lot of people enjoy hanging around in bars either instead of, or as well as going to, clubs”. [via Resident Advisor]
