Original industrial outfit go through the archives ahead of Amélie Ravalec’s feature film.
Industrial Soundtrack for the Urban Decay is a new documentary on the history of industrial music that’s due for release later this year.
Directed by Amélie Ravalec (who was behind 2012’s Paris/Berlin: 20 Years of Underground Techno) and Travis Collins, the film promises to “take you on a journey through the crumbling industrial cities of Europe to America’s thriving avant-garde scene” and features interviews with a roll call of key figures from the early days of the industrial subculture, including Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Test Dept, Clock DVA, NON and SPK.
Other talking heads tapped for the doc include V. Vale of RE/Search, Z’EV, Click Click, Sordide Sentimental, Hula, In the Nursery, Winterkälte/Hands Production, The Klinik/Dive, Ant Zen, Orphx and Prima Linea.
To stir up excitement ahead of its release in late 2014, influential early ’80s act Test Dept have put together a decade-spanning mix featuring a bunch of classic industrial artists plus a few newer faces influenced by them, such as Perc and Forward Strategy Group.
