John Malkovich of John Malkovich fame has recorded an album for Record Store Day.

Like A Puppet Show finds the actor and director reciting Eric Alexandrakis’ version of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave over original music composed by Eric Alexandrakis, while photographer Sandro created the terrifying artwork.

After Malkovich’s part was recorded, the trio asked a motley crew of artists to mix the composition, soliciting contributions from OMD, Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon, The Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan, Dweezil Zappa (son of Frank), Sameer Gadhia of Young The Giant, Efterklang, The Dandy Warhols, Blondie’s Chris Stein, Placebo, Harry Waters (son of Roger and The Cars’ Ric Ocasek.

The vinyl-only release is due on on November 27, aka Black Friday, and is set to be the first of many projects from the trio. Sample the bizarre results on ‘Cryoblue Cheese O’ below.
