Gems from Caribou, Susumu Yokota and Colleen set for reissue on white vinyl.

The Leaf Label has been sniffing out unusual beauties from the fringes of folk, electronica, pop, classical and other in-between zones for a full two decades now, and to celebrate that milestone they’re releasing a deluxe box set.

The “extremely limited” Leaf 20 box set features 10 landmark albums from the back catalogue spread across 14 pieces of white vinyl wrapped in hand-printed paper covers. The box also contains the 10 albums on CD, plus a fold-out catalogue artwork poster, a limited edition print, and liner notes by music writer and journalist Rob Young.

The box set will only be available through a pre-order on Pledge Music (shipping on December 7) but those 10 albums will also be reissued on regular black vinyl with bonus CDs and available internationally through record shops and online from early next year.

“Most of the selected albums have been out of print on vinyl for many years, and the choices have been driven in part via a Leaf online poll,” says the label. “They are spread across the years and begin to reflect the length, breadth and consistent quality of the label’s output in that time.”

As well as much-loved albums by Caribou, Colleen, Efterklang, Asa-Chang & Junray, A Hawk And A Hacksaw and Polar Bear, the collection includes the first LP pressing of Wildbirds & Peacedrums’ Rivers, a reissue of Murcof’s 2002 masterpiece Martes, and the late Susumu Yokota’s 2000 ambient classic Sakura, while Melt Yourself Down’s 2013 debut album is the most recent record included.
