No lifeline for Tidal yet.

The past few weeks have seen rumours that manufacturer Samsung was to acquire Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service.

A spokesperson for the South Korean giant put these to rest by telling Variety magazine “the rumor of Samsung acquiring Tidal is not true.”

It’s been a rough start of the year for the artist-centred streaming service. A few weeks ago Tidal was sued by The American Dollar for supposed copyright infringement, which it denied. Then came the news that the exclusivity of Kanye West’s new album to the platform prevented The Life of Pablo from entering the Billboard charts. And finally, earlier this week two Tidal executives left the company.
