The 10-part film will air on PBS in September.

Trent Reznor and regular collaborator Atticus Ross have scored a new documentary from director Ken Burns about the Vietnam War.

The 10-part, 18-hour documentary, titled The Vietnam War, is set to include over two hours of new original music from the Reznor and his new Nine Inch Nails bandmate Ross as well as reworked versions of Nine Inch Nails songs and music from their The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo scores. The doc also makes use of era-defining hits from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan.

“Not every opportunity to score a film feels like it’s an artistic endeavor,” Reznor told the New York Times. “Rather than just accumulating projects, we’ve tried to select things that challenge us and feel exciting.”

The film premieres in September on PBS. Watch a clip from the series below, featuring new music from Reznor and Ross.

Reznor’s soundtrack career has recently included contributions to Leonardo DiCaprio’s climate change documentary Before The Flood and a forthcoming score for Boston bomber movie Patriots Day, also with Atticus Ross.

Nine Inch Nails released an EP, Not The Actual Events, late last year. The band will headline Panorama festival in New York on July 30, their first live show in nearly three years. [via Pitchfork]
