The future of the Hamburg fixture was at risk this time last year.

Beloved Hamburg club Golden Pudel has received €300k in government funding after being severely damaged in a fire last February.

The funding, which combines €200k from the city of Hamburg along with €100k from the western district of Altona, makes an enormous dent in €850,000 goal, as NDR points out. Last fall the club began taking donations for the repairs with fundraising support from artists including Helena Hauff and Modeselektor.

Golden Pudel at risk of closing shortly before the fire last year due legal disputes between the club’s owners. The fire was later investigated for arson. [via Resident Advisor]
