FACT mix 601: Dark Entries

Dark Entries boss Josh Cheon gives a hint of things to come with this bumper mix of forthcoming material.

As a teenager in New Jersey, Josh Cheon was obsessed with music from the 1980s, ignoring fashionable grunge and pop-punk in favor of The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees and, of course, Bauhaus.

After cutting his teeth working for legendary labels 4AD and DFA, Cheon moved across the country to the Bay Area and started his own imprint, Dark Entries. The label inhabits its own space in the scene, offering sought-after reissues of forgotten classics from acts like San Francisco dance pioneer Patrick Cowley and proto-techno innovators Smersh alongside relevant new material.

Cheon’s FACT mix is a doozy – a blend of 100% unreleased, unannounced Dark Entries titles that veer from dusty disco and vintage house to squealing acid and wonky electro pop.

Don’t forget to check out the Dark Entries site for more related delights.
