Sonar, one of Europe’s premier electronic music and art festivals, will take place this year from June 17 – 19. The Chemical Brothers, LCD Soundsystem, Air and Dizzee Rascal have aleady been announced. Now many more names have been made public.

This morning we told you that the festival’s Radio 1 Experimental Show showcase, which takes place on the Friday night and is hosted by Mary Anne Hobbs, will number UK funky trailblazer Roska, the ever-hyped – and deservedly so – Joy Orbison, and Flying Lotus, who played live at the Radio 1 stage two years ago and was one of the festival’s highlights. Hobbs, as ever, will be supporting with a DJ set herself.

Techno fans will be pleased to hear that Richie Hawtin will be bringing his Plastikman live show to Barcelona, and that there will be a showcase from Sandwell District (AKA Regis and Function). The mighty Zomby [above] is on board, as too are hip-hop legends The Sugarhill Gang and jukebox gene-splicers 2ManyDJs.

Ed Banger is represented by DJ Mehdi, Riton and Uffie, and an extensive LuckyMe showcase gives stage-time to American Men, Eclair Fifi & John Computer, Mike Slott, Machinedrum and The Blessings. Other highlights include Berlin tech-housers Booka Shade, Warp-signed pop-hauntologists Broadcast, disco gushers Aeroplane, Kevin Martin’s dreader-than-dread King Midas Sound and the reliably anthemic Hot Chip.
