Soul Jazz are set to reissue Eighties Ladies‘ album Ladies of The Eighties through their Universal Sound imprint.

Originally released by Uno Melodic Records in, yep, 1980, Ladies of The Eighties is a classic boogie-funk-meets-jazz-and-soul LP produced by Roy Ayers with Rick James.

Vocals are handle by the Eighties Ladies – Susan Beaubian, Marva Hicks, Vivian Prince, Denie Corbett and Sylvia Striplin – and they’re backed by an all-star Roy Ayers band. Soul Jazz describe Ladies of The Eighties , which features the anthems ‘Ladies of The Eighties’ and ‘Turned On To You’, as “one of the rarest of all classic boogie albums”, and original copies are regularly sold for over £100.

All tracks have been remastered the album for the Universal Sound reissue, which features original artwork and is available on special edition CD and deluxe heavyweight card packaged gatefold vinyl. It’s due out on April 5.
