Earlier this year, news broke that London clubbing institution Plastic People, home of FWD, CD-R, Theo Parrish’s London residency and many more, was facing closure.

Details of the investigation and subsequent appeal can be found here and here.

The latest news to emerge today, is that the club will close for two months at the end of this month for refurbishments, ending on a Deck Queenz party headlined by Cooly G [above] and also featuring Playing with Knives, Nadia Ksaiba and more. Details of that night can be found on its Facebook event page.

According to an update on the Save Plastic People Facebook page, the club will be back running by end of July/early August. We don’t know what kind of refurbishments these are, and whether they’re being done as a result of the potential closure, but this is hopefully a positive sign. They also claim that the above party will be the last chance to experience Plastics “as you know it”.

The club go on to state that they “are in talks with the council and it seems to be going OK so far.” They have stressed that the club will not be moving.
