Today’s download is a syncopated house epic by new Detroit-hailing producer Contakt.
Inspired by classic techno, electro, ghettotech as well as the contemporary takes on house and garage coming out of the UK, Contakt runs New York’s TURRBOTAX® night, one of the few clubnights in the city dedicated to the hard-to-define music being made by labels like Hyperdub and Night Slugs. In his hip-hop days, he DJed shows with MF Doom, Cormega and tons more – he’s basically an all-around badman.
Here he remixes ‘Fervor’, from Svpreme Fiend’s Killer EP which just dropped on Local Action. Contakt is signed up for a future 12” on the label, so expect to hear a lot more about him in the future. Until then, just get lost in this brilliant track.
