November 15 sees the release of Infected, a new 2×12″ EP from The Bug.

This latest Ninja Tune offering from the London-based producer is billed as a bridge between his London Zoo LP of last year and his forthcoming “dub battle” with Adrian Sherwood. It kicks off with ‘Catch A Fire’, a reworking of ‘Skeng’ that replaces the original’s bloodthirsty chat (courtesy of Flow Dan and Killa P) with more dulcet, reflective vocals from King Midas Sound’s Hitomi; there’s also a fleeting guitar contribution from industrial/metal legend Justin K. Broadrick, with whom The Bug collaborated on the seminal Techno Animal project back in the 1990s. Check out the video, directed by Niall O’Brien. ‘Tune In’ is a new version of ‘Poison Dart’ featuring vocals from Roots Manuva.

The second 12″ features a remix of ‘Skeng’ by Autechre which, we’re pleased to report, is every bit as tasty in actuality as it is on paper – the Warp duo retaining Flow Dan and Killa P’s verses in full, girding them with an icy, minimalist hip-hop rhythm that counts among their most accessible and effective confections in years. UK funky don and Hyperdub regular Scratcha completes the package with a typically syncopated DVA re-rub of ‘Poison Dart’.

Tracklist:

1. Catch A Fire feat Hitomi
2. Tune In feat Roots Manuva
