Brad Rose has had a hand in producing two of our favourite albums of recent months.

The first, Bloodlines, is an expansive suite of industrial electronics released under his The North Sea guise; the second, more recent offering is Mechanical Gardens, a collaboration with his wife Eden Hemming. Recording as Altar Eagle, the duo have produced an album of sensuous dream-pop that builds on the promise of their previous obscure cassette releases and invites comparisons with the likes of Slowdive, Cindytalk, Cocteau Twins and Eyeless In Gaza. Of course, the album’s straight pop ambition is tempered by its makers love of noise, darkwave and techno, and the tense, tremulous beauty that it results in is astonishing. It’s out now; you can preview all its tracks in full courtesy of Type Records here.

We’re delighted to be able to premiere the new video for one of Mechanical Garden‘s finest tracks, the absorbing drift of twinkling music box arpeggios and submerged harmonies that is ‘You Lost Your Neon Haze’. Look out for a forthcoming interview with Altar Eagle on FACT.
