Remember Nomi Ruiz? ‘Course you do.

Rising to prominence as smoky vocalist and live focal point of Hercules & Love Affair, Ruiz parted company with Andrew Butler’s troupe in 2009, taking bassist Andrew Raposo and keyboardist Morgan Wiley with her. Originally christening themselves Deep Red, the newly formed trio eventually settled on the name Jessica 6, after the Logan’s Run character.

On April 18 Jessica 6 will release their debut single proper via Peacefrog: ‘White Horse’ (free download here), a solid disco-pop number b/w ‘Pressed’. Their album, See The Light, is due out in May, and is apparently influenced by “horror, sex and psychedelia”. Interestingly, Antony Hegarty – who along with Ruiz was the star of Hercules’ self-titled debut LP – turns up for a duet on the track ‘Prisoner of Love’.

More information on the album, and a Jessica 6 UK tour, coming soon.
