Joy Orbison becomes Joy O

Joy O – ‘Wade In’ (radio rip)

Joy Orbison returns to Hotflush, the label responsible for issuing his world-conquering ‘Hyph Mngo’, for a new single out March 21.

The London-based producer has slimmed down his moniker to Joy O for the new 12″, a two-track affair comprising  ‘Wade In’ and ‘Jells’. You may recall that ‘Ladywell’/'BB’, released through his own Doldrums imprint last year, was credited simply to J.O., suggesting that the full Joy Orbison handle is being phased out.

‘Wade In’ continues Joy’s exploration of a swinging, garage-flecked house sound, this time replete with stinging acid lines and feelgood piano vamps. On the B-side ‘Jels’ has a Motor City techno feel, with crisp percussion and warm pads that nod to the work of his beloved Omar-S.

You can preview ‘Wade In’ in the radio rip streaming above.

It’s confusing word search on “Orbison” on Google and Twitter… Very bad idea to surf on the popularity of such a great signer.  Shame on you.
