FACT mix 228: KiNK

This Monday’s mix is by one of the headliners at the party we’re throwing this Friday, KiNK.

Resident Advisor, in the past, have described KiNK as making “old school sounds with a modern edge”, and 2010 saw the Bulgarian producer fulfill that promise with more zest than ever before. He re-imagined Jeff Mills’ ‘Changes of Life’ as a skippy, modern ecstasy screamer in ‘Existence’ (our #9 track of 2010, no less), and lit up dancefloors worldwide with takes on acid, filter-heavy house, Aphex and more that stayed true to the sounds’ original agendas while adding the sort of twists that only a man with a serious understanding of modern software and hardware could.

KiNK’s status as an increasing influence on the more interesting sections of UK club music (Martyn, Julio Bashmore, xxxy and Midland have all expressed their love for him of late) led us to fly him over for a rare UK live performance this Friday, where he’ll be playing alongside Instra:mental, Slimzee and Elijah & Skilliam for FACT x Dollop at the 700 capacity Citipost Building, Shoreditch.

His people asked if we wanted a FACT mix to precede the night. We bit their hand off like we hadn’t eaten for weeks. Tickets for FACT x Dollop start at ÂŁ5, and are available here.
